In light of PWC schools closing for a month, we are asking that you continue to work with your child at home. As you know, your child was given calendars of optional Study Island homework. You can find the Study Island calendar, which was given out in class, listed in my documents and files. Although it is optional, we highly encourage your child to set aside time each day to review skills which have already been taught. Please do not ask your child to work on skills which have not been taught yet. At this point in the year, we have not taught geometry or place value to 6 digits. However, all other skills have been covered. In reading, all skills have been taught. However, we continue to teach these skills as some of them have not been mastered yet.

Please look for emails from your child's teacher throughout this time period. Your children have access to Study Island, RAZ-kids, and Dreambox. Their passwords are taped to their binders. These websites cover skills for both reading and math which are most critical since we give SOL's for these two subjects. Of course, your child will benefit most from reading and responding in writing to what they have read. We highly encourage you to visit the public library to check out books throughout this time period. If you do not want to go to the library, please utilize RAZ-kids or swap books with neighbors or friends.

For your convenience, I have links to Dreambox, Study Island, and RAZ-kids. Please reach out to me if your child has difficulty logging onto any of these programs. I have also included the link to Mo Willems and the science experiments I sent out by email. The links are listed below this update.

We do not have any additional information at this time. Please continue to check the Prince William County website for updates.
Feel free to reach out should you have any academic questions.
Stay healthy and enjoy this time with your children.

Welcome to third grade! We will learn many new things together this year such as multiplication, cursive, and ancient cultures. Our classroom will be made up of kind, encouraging, and hard-working learners.

I attended Handley High School and graduated from James Madison University. Go Dukes! I have taught first grade, second grade, and now this will be my 7th year of third grade. My oldest daughter graduated from George Mason and works as a financial analyst. My son is a freshman at JMU and my youngest daughter is a junior at Patriot High School.

I can't wait to start the year with your children. Together we will have a successful year.

Here are some important details about your child's day:

We eat lunch from 11:10-11:40. Since we eat lunch at  the beginning of our school day, we will have snack, in the afternoon, after encore. It is your child's responsibility to bring a snack if he/she desires one. Snacks will not be provided by the teacher.  Please send your child to school with a water bottle every day. Snacks need to be peanut and tree nut free for the safety of all children.

Back to School Night will be on Thursday, September 26th   I will be looking for a room mom/dad and volunteers during my Back to School Night.

Should you have any questions throughout the year, feel free to contact me at 703-753-1702 or
