Introducing the new PTO officers for 2014-2015

Jaime, Jennifer, Laurie and I are excited to serve our school as new PTO Officers. Between us we've had/have 10 kids at Glenkirk. Three of us have rising 4th graders - watch out 4th grade ;-)

Our vision for PTO is to help ensure our school is a great community where children blossom and families feel welcome. We are big fans of community oriented events that get our families together at the school for fun and camaraderie. We want to find ways to be efficient, to use our volunteer's time wisely, and to continue our tradition of amazing fundraising. Our parents are crazy generous and we've raised SO much money that's gone straight to the classroom - that is hugely important to us.

A Survey  We'd appreciate your ideas and input. If you have a moment in the next few days, we'd be grateful for your input. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1OxfTbKo_LFoYTTq9JBOC4-ILCaR5kn25f41CNDUDmpI/viewform?usp=send_form

Suspending the Sale of Container Milk

Prince William County Public Schools cafeterias are temporarily suspending the sale of container milk due to a spoilage problem associated with our vendor, Marva Maid. We first reported what appeared to be isolated cases of spoilage to the vendor on May 23. We since learned that the problem included milk products the company delivered to Henrico County Schools. Consequently, PWCS is now working with the Prince William Health District to ensure the safety and quality of any milk products originating with the supplier.

Students were served juice in place of milk today. We will continue this practice until we can be assured of the safety of the products delivered or, if necessary, until alternate supplies can be obtained. Of course, students are free to bring milk products from home.

We are taking this action in keeping with our ongoing commitment to student health and safety. While the problem is no cause for concern, we are committed to serving only products that meet the highest quality standards.

Thank you for your understanding.  Sincerely, Serena Suthers Director, School Food and Nutrition Services
