Purple Up! Show Your Support for Military Kids – Wear Purple on April 24

April is designated “Month of the Military Child” to show support and thank military children for their strength and sacrifices. More than 2 million people in the United States serve in the nations military and many have families and children who are also impacted through their service.

“Purple Up!” or wearing purple as a show of support, is a way for everyone to show support for military youth. Why purple? It is the color that symbolizes all branches of the military, combining Army green, Coast Guard blue, Air Force blue, Marine red and Navy blue.

Because Purple Up! Day falls during spring break, Student Services would like to honor and thank military children for their strength and sacrifices on Thursday, April 24 by wearing purple. This is a special way of showing support and recognition for the sacrifices that come with having military family members.

Questions? Contact Darlene Friedline, Military-Connected Academic and Support Programs(MCASP), Student Services, at 703.791.7463 or friedld@pwcs.edu.
